We agreed with the Jewish parish of Budapest

April 4, 2016

We signed a letter of intent with the Jewish Parish of Budapest. With this, the manager of the cemetery, the Jewish Parish expressly supports the project.

US Ambassador to Hungary visits our project

H.E. US Ambassador to Hungary David B. Cornstein and our project representatives after the cemetery tour we gave the high-ranking guest.

We are about to begin our work after the long winter hibernation.

April 1, 2019

We will begin with a significant amount of woodchipping the week after next and simultaneously, we will spray our completed section to ensure that weeds and reseeding do not recur.

Nov. 20, 2018

On Oct 15th 2018, after 18 months of planning and fund raising, we began the work of saving one of the world’s largest Jewish cemeteries.

The idea of the “Friends of the Budapest Jewish Cemetery” project originated from Michael Perl and Marc Pinter. They got to know each other during a dinner in November 2015.

Start of restoration of section 33C

November 19, 2019

Today we started the restoration of section 33C. It has an area of 5 643 sqm (60 740 sqf.). About 1 465 individuals have been buried here between 1945 and 1967.

Our American foundation was registered

July 13, 2016

We need our American co-foundation because of our American founders. In case of donation, they ask for such a tax certificate, which they can use in the USA when they do the taxes.
